Why did you get into fitness?

It just sort of happened but I wouldn’t change it for anything else. I get to live a healthy and active lifestyle and I get to help others do the same. It's pretty neat!

 

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

My family is my biggest motivator. I have a son and a beautiful wife, both of whom take it in turns to wake me up before my alarm each day, so I guess you could say that they literally get me out of bed in the morning!

 

What is your favourite thing about Nelson Bay?

I have met so many great people here; I love the Nelson Bay community, as everyone is so friendly, accepting and laid back. It’s also such a beautiful part of the world! Why would you want to work and train anywhere else?

 

What is your favourite class to teach?

​ My favourite style of class has got to be a high impact aerobic workout. Everyone gets a workout no matter their fitness level, including me.

By regularly doing Body Balance for its restorative stretching and strengthening moves. Despite appearances, I am inherently lazy but I have learned that the easiest way to get through life is to be as fit and as healthy as you can be, which means regular exercise and eating good food.

Why did you get into fitness?

My mum was my main motivator to get into fitness, she ran her own small gym and encouraged me to get qualified and once I did I found what I loved! It was the feeling I got from helping others to reach their goals and stay motivated that kept me in, and the bonus is I am keeping on top of my own training at the same time!

 

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

Well firstly my children, I have two daughters and they keep me very busy. But also knowing how much my job helps others both physically and mentally is definitely worth getting out of my warm cosy bed on a freezing day.

 

What is your favourite thing about Nelson Bay?

I love everything that is around this area. It's beautiful; the bush walks; the amazing beaches; and the ice cream shops! The people I have met through working in Nelson Bay have been my reason for wanting to take this next step and start Our Gym. They are so supportive, friendly and fun.

 

What is your favourite class to teach?

It’s hard to pick a favourite class. I love BodyCombat and its fast intense training. BodyBalance is so good to look after my body with its stretches while still keeping my body strong. And all of my seniors classes are just so much fun, keeping me and them active with lots of laughs. I love them all!

Treating myself to a good massage and a tasty meal. Training and eating right are very important for a healthy body, but we’re not perfect and we shouldn’t expect to be. I am not a serious person So when I stuff up I just remember that tomorrow is a new day, life is about learning, enjoying life and becoming your best you. Not picking yourself to pieces.

Why did you get into this thing called Fitness?

I have always loved being a part of a gym community. I actually met my husband at a gym! A long story short- Whilst deciding what to do once my maternity leave had finished, my husband and his (now) business partner had a dream... And I wanted to do everything that I could to make that dream successful. So here I am!

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

I'm definitely the type of person who gets out of bed before my alarm (some people also call him Jimmy).  I'm also a "cross things off of my to-do list" kind of person, so knowing that each day is another opportunity to get more things done, that's what motivates me to get out of bed in the morning!

Why did you get into this thing called Fitness?

Not long after I started playing ultimate frisbee, I learnt that if you want to be the best it requires you too be extremely fit. It was through my training that I realised that I love to workout. It makes me feel stronger and better inside. The pain in your body after a tough workout is a pain that I enjoy because I know it means that I’m getting stronger.

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

This is a tricky question because I am the type of person who enjoys sleeping in. But if I had to say one thing it would be the amazing feeling that you get when you know you're getting up and doing something that you enjoy.

Why did you get into this thing called Fitness?

I guess Fitness chose me. I started working in a gym creche many moons ago and loved the atmosphere and the community that the gym life offers. I also loved being able to support other Mums get back into fitness post baby. There was something really rewarding about that. I've had a lot of experience in a number of lot of different industries and I am so happy to be back at Our Gym doing what I love!

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

A BIG cup of coffee! I'm a definitely a morning person so getting out of bed isn't hard once I'm awake or my alarm goes off.

Why did you get into this thing called Fitness?

I fell in love with group fitness as a teen and for the last 20 years haven’t looked back. From Body Combat, HITT, Body Balance to my all time favourite Body Attack there is something for everything. I love the energy that exercise brings, the mental clarity and the physical benefits of feeling stronger; making a happier ‘me’ for everyday life.

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

If it’s not a crash tackle from a snuggly Mr 4 year old it’s an early alarm, cold shower and an dash out the door for an quick early run that get’s me going and glowing for the day
